Wharton Square is a shopping center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on Wharton Street and South 21st Street in the Southside Flats neighborhood. It is situated near the Monongahela River and the South Side Works, a mixed-use development. Wharton Square was built in 1984 as a strip mall with a Giant Eagle supermarket as the anchor tenant. The center also included branches of Rainbow Shops, Rent-A-Center and other retailers. In 2019, the center was renovated and rebranded as Wharton Square, adding new tenants. Wharton Square is owned by Wharton Square Associates LP, a partnership between Washington Prime Group and Madison International Realty. Wharton Square has 23 stores, including major brands such as Giant Eagle. The center offers a range of products and services, from groceries and fitness to clothing and entertainment. Wharton Square also has several dining options, such as Giant Eagle Deli, Chan An Restaurant.
