Great Northern Mall is a suburban enclosed shopping mall located in North Olmsted, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. It is one of the largest malls in the Greater Cleveland area and one of the oldest in the state, with over 110 retail shops, 15 restaurants, a movie theater, and a fitness center. It is owned and operated by Pacific Retail Capital Partners, a private real estate investment firm that specializes in shopping centers. It attracts millions of visitors every year and features popular and affordable stores for various needs and preferences. Great Northern Mall is located on 4954 Great Northern Mall, North Olmsted, OH 44070. It is situated on the southwest corner of Great Northern Boulevard and Brookpark Road, near the Interstate 480. It covers an area of 1.2 million square feet and has one level. Great Northern Mall was developed by Saul Biskind and opened in 1958 as an open-air shopping center with three anchor stores: Sears, F. W. Woolworth Company, and Pick-N-Pay grocery store. A freestanding May Company store was added in 1965. The shopping center was enclosed and expanded in 1976 with new anchor stores: JCPenney and Bullock’s (later Macy’s). The mall also had an ice skating rink, which was removed in 1984. The mall underwent several expansions and renovations over the years, such as adding a fifth anchor store: Montgomery Ward (later Steve & Barry’s, then Dick’s Sporting Goods) in 1986, adding a food court in 1988, adding a sixth anchor store: The Broadway (later Macy’s Men’s & Home Store) in 1993, adding a movie theater: Edwards Westfield MainPlace 10 (later Regal Cinemas Edwards Westfield MainPlace) in 1998, adding a fitness center: 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport in 2016, and adding a furniture store: Ashley Furniture HomeStore in 2017. The mall was sold by Saul Biskind to Hexalon Real Estate in 1980, who hired Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation as its management company until 2000. Hexalon Real Estate sold the mall to Westfield Group in 1998 for $165 million. Westfield Group renamed the mall as Westfield Shoppingtown Great Northern in 1999 and later as Westfield Great Northern in 2005. Westfield Group sold the mall to Starwood Capital Group in 2013 for $81 million. Starwood Capital Group sold the mall to Pacific Retail Capital Partners in 2019 for an undisclosed amount. Pacific Retail Capital Partners restored the mall’s original name as Great Northern Mall in 2019.

Great Northern Mall has today 110 retail stores that offer a variety of products and services to its customers. Some of the major retailers include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Macy’s, Macy’s Men’s & Home Store, JCPenney, H&M, Forever 21. Great Northern Mall also has several pop-up shops that feature emerging brands and exclusive collections. Great Northern Mall has over 15 restaurants that cater to different tastes and budgets. Great Northern Mall also has a food court that offers fast food choices such as Charleys Philly Steaks and Auntie Anne’s. Great Northern Mall is open seven days a week from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Monday through Saturday and 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Great Northern Mall has several parking structures and lots that can accommodate up to 6 000 vehicles. The parking is free for all customers.

Plenty of space and open stores, worth the trip to be able to shop!

A well kept mall. Could use more variety other than the usual clothing or shoe stores.
Disappointed in Santa by ,
Have taken my children to Great Northern Mall to see Santa for years, now they have children. Of course last year the 2 and 1 year old cried but we got pictures. This year they went on train ride with Santa and they were excited to see him (this was to get them more use to the big guy) . On 11/30/17 when walking through mall the Santa was coming back from break and the kids saw him and they were so excited not afraid at all, however when they waved and said Hi Santa to him, he completely ignored them and they were so disappointed that Santa didn’t even wave back at them as he went through the mall. (FYI he did see them) I don’t see any email address to contact mall but I am shocked that this happened. It would not have taken any time out of his day to merely wave back at two small children that were in awe of see him in the mall.
