Dead Mall
Back in its heyday (even in the 90s) it was the place to be. Clothes, books, candy, ice cream , toy stores, sporting goods, even a movie theater. Tenant ocupantcy rate was at or near 100%. Anchored by Von Maur, Younkers, Scheels All sports, and Wal-Mart. Once Wal-Mart left the mall (built new store south of town) many other retailers started leaving (some due to high rent rates and lower sales due to less foot traffic in the mall, and others where they were going out of business country wide). For every new store this mall brings in 3 others seem to close. Outside parcels surrounding the mall are fully occupied, but the malls interior is about 10% occupied.
Within a month, Von Maur will be the last anchor store left. A grocery store replaced the Wal-Mart, but there is no access to the mall. A 12 plex movie theatre also exists on site, but that too has no access from the mall.
This mall is a dead mall, while there is a small hand full of stores left, the mall itself basically is a sad shell of its former self. Unless you have a specific store (that is still there) to visit, you are better off visiting downtown cedar falls, or southern cedar falls (viking plaza shopping area) if you are just looking to browse multiple retailers.
