Very sad to see this wonderful mall ruined just as the rest of the malls in the Birmingham area. Internet shopping has NOT done this. It’s only a matter of time for the Galleria. Very sad.
A Sad Sight by ,
I grew up going to Brookwood Village and I remember a lot of shops that used to be there. The first sign that that Brookwood Village was having problems was when it was ruined with the new "facelift" back in the early 2000s, which was actually more like a downsizing rather than being remodeled. I blame Amazon and eBay for the lack of business at the mall. That and shoppers who want to save a couple of bucks on a pair sneakers, because shopping online when you don't have to puts people out of work. Back to my review of Brookwood Village. I prefer the Brookwood Village look of the 1980s and 1990s over what they've got going on now. And another sad thing, Belk's has closed down and there's a big empty department store at one end of the mall as well as several empty smaller stores on the same end. That and the main escalators near the parking decks only partially work now and it doesn't look like they're going to fix them either. A Sad Sight INDEED.

There around 6:30 pm on a Friday. Large crowd of young people that were dressed like gang members and using language that was intended to be disruptive and offensive to others. Can not believe the racist comments made at white people. Will not go back. I'm from Canada visiting friends in Mountain Brook and didn't know this type of behavior was allowed. I had heard of racial problems in the USA and now we see why. Very sad place to live.
