So I went in to make a return on an item I received as a gift. (Yes it was past the 30 days) I had the receipt and tags still attached to the product I was returning. Even then the employees looked at me with blank faces because they didn’t know what to do. One gal finally spoke up and said we can do an exchange for a product similar to style/price. I was like okay that’s great thank you! I found an item that was $3 more than my returning item. So I figured I would pay the difference and everything would be fine. I go to the register and the employee says that’ll be $18. I’m like um why is that? (Considering the returning item was $25 and the new purchase was $27). Both the employee again look at me with a blank face, making me feel silly for even asking or being in their store. They said, “Idk that’s jus what the total is.” The other employee jus shrugged her shoulders and kept doing what she was doing while the employee cashing me out jus rolled his eyes. So instead of giving me an answer or at least providing decent customer conversation to handle the situation they actually ruined my mood. I grabbed the hat and said never mind I will jus keep it. Not to mention before this the employees were talking about how much they didn’t want to be there and almost didn’t come into today. There’s nothing worse then feeling bad for interrupting two employees personal conversations to help you in the store they work at. I ended up going to buckle where I had amazing service and decided to buy a new outfit and hat from them instead. Very displeased with the service I had at Tillys in Sioux Falls. I understand if the problem is out of their reach, but at least have the service skills to say, “ I’m sorry ma’am I’m not sure why the difference in price is not adding up. Maybe the hat you are returning went on sale and that’s why the total isn’t making sense. Would you still like to proceed with your purchase or allow me to do some digging to provide you with a more solid answer?”. Like I understand I’m not dealing with the most professional employees but at least anything besides rolling their eyes and saying nothing would have been better.
