Shoe Dept. Encore - Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877 - Lakeforest Mall

On August 25th 2019 my son, nieces and nephews walked into this store to look at shoes by themselves. I thought that was okay to let them look on their own as they're old enough and I was nearby. They range in age between 12 and 16. It turns out one of the ladies that work there asked if they needed any help,they said no, then they were followed and we're told she would call the cops if they didn't leave. Why they are just looking?Of course they are black and she is Indian. These kids were RACIALLY PROFILED and I went directly to the associate and asked why were the cops going to be called, did they steal something? She said NO. So why would you tell them that the police would be called? She said she's just trying to treat everyone the same. I said well did you tell those people or that person over there that you would call the cops? I want my kids to be able to walk into a store and be able to look without being threatened. My kids nieces and nephews and any person should not be treated differently based off how you look, what you wear, or skin color. I want these kids and anyone to be treated equally and it's not right how they were treated in this store! I have been in customer service over 20 years and I know this is not customer service! You can't prove that someone is stealing until they have walked out the store with something. Don't threaten anyone with the cops unless you can prove their in the wrong!
