STAY AWAY! That is unless you want to be emotionally manipulated into spending hundreds of dollars. I’ve seen a lot shady business practices in my life, but this one takes the cake! Whoever came up with this business plan has to be a borderline, if not full blown, sociopath. It is a bait and switch, and the switch is just simply cruel. Most people would agree that family portraits are some of the most precious possessions. They capitalize on this to get you to spend upwards of $800 dollar for 18-30 unique photos, when they advertise 33 photos for $19.99 to $29.99. What the ad doesn’t reveal is that all of the 33 photos are just different sizes of the same photo. This wouldn’t be so bad if you knew this upfront, but they do everything imaginable to hide this. First, the fine print of the “Portrait Package” ad is hardly legible. If you magnify the fine print and squint, you might be able to make out that the “Portrait Package” is only for one pose. Almost nothing else is in writing. There is no way to tell what different packages they offer or the prices. They may also tell you that their prices are constantly changing which is why they don’t offer a list of packages and prices for you to compare. Here is what they do. You make an appointment. When you come in, you can try to present your “Portrait Package” ad/coupon to them, but you will likely be told that they won’t need until the end of your picture session. They will take about 90 UNIQUE pictures with different poses of you and your family. You will then sit with one of the employees and select 18 to 30 of the photos that you like the best. Then, the gut punch comes. If you want all of the 30 photos, you’re looking at about $800. So you go through a 25 minute photo session, you take the time to go through each photo just to find out that you can only pick one, that is unless you want to pay around $250 for 12 or pay about $800 photos for all 30. Remember that the deal is for 33 photos, but they obscure the fact that it is just 33 photos of the same pose. If that isn’t a bait and switch, I don’t know what is. Not to mention all the time we took to get ready, the 40 minute wait after our scheduled appointment, and the long wait to get the one pose photos. I imagine that if they spent more effort being transparent, and less time trying to trick people into going through these long photo sessions to later offer overpriced pictures, they would stay on scheduled, make more sales, and have happier customers. With the way they are doing business, they will go bankrupt like the other location in Carmel, IN that closed. But with their prices, they probably only need two or three customers a day to scammed to stay in business. I must mention that the staff was very nice and professional, but that makes it even worst that they would use good people to perpetrate such deceptive and misleading business practices.
