KOHL'S - Hamilton, New Jersey NJ 08691 - Hamilton Marketplace

Normally I never have a problem at the Kohl’s in Hamilton, NJ. But tonight got me really upset and feeling uncomfortable, like a “stupid” customer. My fiancé and I were shopping and I was wondering if they did lay-a-way or something where I could put items aside to purchase in a few days when I go back with my mom. Not knowing Kohl’s policy and not shopping here a lot, I went up to an employee and asked him. He didn’t know either so he asked a manager via his walkie talkie. He had his volume turned all the way up, so I heard the entire convo on the other end. The girl responded BUSTING out laughing. This is how the convo went word for word. Girl- “Did you LITERALLY just ask if we have lay a way?! Seriously” LAUGHING more. Him - “yeah. A customer is asking.” Her - “no we don’t freaking have lay a way. They CAN apply for a store card if they’re really interested in buying something. oh my god.” Still laughing. I’m standing there embarrassed as he says thanks and turns to me “did you hear that?” I responded with yes and started to walk away. Then a little old lady stopped me, having heard the convo and told me that they keep items on hold for 24 hours. I thanked her and joked with her, telling her she knew more than the employees. She chuckled and said she just shops there a lot. I shouldn’t have to be made to feel stupid as a customer by someone working at a store, simply because I didn’t know a policy of theirs. I was a manager in retail and I’ve NEVER behaved this way nor expected my staff to. I’m probably not going to be shopping at this kohl’s anymore, but instead taking my business to the East Windsor one. Sorry kohl’s of hamilton but I won’t allow myself to be treated that way.
