We were taking a walk in the neighborhood mall at World Trade Center. Westfield mall is right next to Tribeca and Battery Park where there are lots of family so the location definitely makes sense. I was walking around with my 2 and 5-year-old. The younger one was attracted by one of the hoodies on display, and strolled into the store. My husband was holding his hand and followed him into the store. My boy wanted to take a closer look from the front of the mannequin - though he was clearly on a tight leash. As soon as my 2 year old got close to the mannequin, the salesperson gave my husband a dirty look. When my 2 year old stood in front of the mannequin, within 1 second, he barked "kids are not allowed in the shop window, get him out of there!". The shop window was basically part of the floor of the store - it's not like my kid climbed inside a dangerous area, or has even touched anything fragile with his hands. We were stunned - and then immediately left. The existence of a kids clothing store is because there are kids. We have received better treatment when we brought our kids to shop at the Baccarat. Reading that this place has temporarily been out of business back in the summer (Tirbeca Citizen), I can only imagine that this is one of the reasons why. Just for the records, it was a cold day and we were all in Moncler puffers - it's not like we appeared to be wasting their time either. Attached is the gentlemen who have shown complete disdain and hostility towards young children. I think an adult novelty store would be the best place for him to work at, where he'd never see any children. Unfortuntely he doesn't even make the cut for a crystal stemware store. Stay away - if you have any kids, with you or not.
