I had a poor experience at this store. My granddaughters browsed in this store while I was purchasing an item next door. One is 14 and one is 12 years old. The 12 year finally got up the courage to get her ears pierced. I asked her how much it was and she said $29.99 for the earring's and the piercing was free (backed up by a sign in the window, and incidentially on their web site). After a call to her parents, who gave the ok, I agreed. The clerk showed me the earrings she was looking at. She said they were$ 49.99, she said that the 14 year old had indicated she was sensitive and required a higher quality, so she thought the higher quality would be better for the 12 year old. It was way too high priced and I shook my head no. Then she showed me the $29.99 pair. She said it would be $33.00 or $34.00 with tax. I said verbally and loudly "OK, that is better, that is doable" . We had to wait for approximately 15 minutes for the other clerk to come off of break to do a double piercing (both ears at the same time), and for her to find the earrings. She said she had a very hard time finding them.. They were all very pleasant through out, and we were pleasant the whole time despite the wait. It was exciting and a big moment for the 12 year old. She said my granddaughter could also pick out a second pair of earrings for $4.00. I agreed thinking it would be around $38.00 total. When it cam time to ring up the purchase is when things went wrong. She told me it would be $79.00. I about fainted. I said you told me the earrings would be $29,99 plus tax, $34.99 at the most. She said there must have been a misunderstanding, she said she thought we wanted the $49.00 ones because of her conversation with my 14 year old granddaughter. I said there was no misunderstanding, I was very clear and I only agreed to the $29.99 earrings. She kept clicking on the computer/register, she said I'm trying to get it down for you. She kept clicking and clicking on the register. The whole time I was thinking how could even $49.99 earrings get up to $79.00? Finally she said, I got it down to $56.00, just the two pairs of earrings and a 10% discount. She said "I took off the charge for the piercing and the earring cleaner (which if you look at their website and the sign in the window the piercing is free anyway). I was pretty furious, but did not want to make a scene in front of my granddaughters or ruin the moment for the 12 year old, so I went ahead and paid it. I was clear about which earrings we agreed to, and I felt I'd been had. Put on the spot. I don't know if they work commission? She couldn't find the $29.99 pair? or what? but it didn't seem right. Especially since she apparently was also trying to change me for the piercings, when they are supposed to be free. My advice to others is buyer beware. Get it in writing, and make sure they don't charge you for piercings that are supposed to be free.
Unsatisfactory Customer Service by ,
Went to Claire's to pick out some birthday gifts in the Lynnwood Mall and saw a specific item that my daughter asked for. The item was on sale but it was missing a piece that all the other same items had, also the item was missing a tag. When I asked if the missing item could be added to complete the purchase the young lady behind the desk responded with a "no". Considering the fact that the item had a special going on and it was missing pieces including a tag, I was confused, to say the least on why she could not take a few minutes of her time to correct the problem..Very Disappointing dealing with poor customer service skills, won't be going back again and don't recommend Claire's to anyone. Good luck if you choose to do business with them.
